Colorado Distracted Driving Law
Effective: January 1, 2025
Effective January 1st, 2025, Colorado amended their distracted driving law to permit mobile device use only when using a hands free accessory. This means Colorado drivers are not permitted to hold their phones while driving, including for calls, which may affect Colorado employees who often call into meetings.
We recommend that employers update their driving policies to reflect these changes. If an employer requires employees to call in to meetings or otherwise use a mobile device while driving, we recommend they provide a hands free device to the employees.
